1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
3/4 cup applesauce
1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar.
2. Add eggs and vanilla, mix well.
3. Combine the dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture alternately with applesauce.
4. Fill greased or paper lined muffin cups 2/3 full.
5. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until cupcakes test done.
6. Cool for ten minutes before removing to wire rack.
